Visa or Passport

To enter Spain it is necessary to show a valid passport or another document adhering to international conventions and reciprocity criteria that verifies the identity of the traveler. For citizens of Andorra, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Switzerland and of those countries belonging to the European Union, the presentation of a national identification document is sufficient.

For nationals of certain countries, and depending on the duration of the visit, a visa is required. In case of doubt, consultation at the Embassy of Spain in Washington.

US citizens do not need any visa on their passports if the duration of the visit is not longer than three months. US students and workers going to Spain should contact either the Consular Section of the Embassy of Spain or the Spanish General Consulates before leaving USA in order to get the appropriate visa.
